It turns out that our minds are complicated. What we feel, sense, or understand in different environments is not the same for all of us. Our physical and mental capabilities are not all the same. Many people in schooling are made to feel inadequate with the unspoken expectation that everyone can be good at everything. Some people are amazing at doing calculations in their head. Others are unable to do it in their head but can perform just as well with use of a calculator to perform work.
Minds work in different ways. We all benefit from understanding how our own minds work as well as appreciating the strengths and weaknesses of our students, co-workers, employees and loved ones.
Here is an introduction to the Course “Spotlight on Autistic Minds”. It will give you a little bit more perspective on how interesting and how practical it is to learn more.
