We are all different. We have different strengths and weaknesses. There is likely no one who is good at everything. There are symbols that are commonly used to communicate about neurodiversity and autism. Favored by many autistics is the rainbow (the light spectrum) in the infinity symbol. This represents the inclusion of all minds as part of the whole human spectrum. A puzzle piece has been used as well meaning to many that we all fit in to the bigger picture.
Neurodiversity is appreciating these differences without judging qualities as good or as “disabled”. With a more appreciative view we are better able to find our supports and “work arounds” for making activities more successful for each individual. It turns out that the mind is a complicated place where we could all learn more about how it might function.
We have created a course called “Spotlight on Autistic Minds” that can open understanding of ourselves and our differences from others. Here is a short video on “Why?” we have felt the need to create that course.
